Just a little about me…
I grew up as an “army brat,” moving across the U.S. and internationally every 3-4 years. I discovered hatha yoga in a church basement during my freshman year of college at James Madison University where I studied Geology. I moved to Asheville in 2003 and began taking weekly classes at Lighten Up Yoga.

My training includes…
I received my initial teacher training with Lillah Schwartz, while also studying under numerous Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers (CIYT) including Cindy Dollar, Ryan Conrad, and other visiting senior teachers. I studied with the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, in 2019, and have since enjoyed taking online classes with CIYTs all over the world. In 2022, I became a Level 1 CIYT under the mentorship of Randy Loftis.

My teaching style is…
My teaching style encourages exploration and discovery. Inspired by my own practice and experience, I often teach in progressions so that everyone can access the pose. I invite observation and reflection on how an asana effects the body, how it brings an energetic quality, and how a pose shifts a state of mind.

I care deeply about…
Liberation. Freedom from suffering, whether that’s from the aches and pains of the body, the mental chatter of the mind, the stress of everyday life, or from social constructs that oppress. Yoga has given me glimpses of this freedom, which I hope to share with others!
